Joan Stone
Joan Stone fought the fight, finished the course, kept the faith and arrived in the presence of God on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born August 9, 1932 in Buckhannon, WV, a daughter of the late Burl and Alice Wilson McCoy. On January 7, 1950 she married Paul L. Stone who preceded her in death on November 4, 2001. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Robert C. McCoy. She is survived by three daughters, Tammy Lowther and husband Stan, Terry Hamner and husband Matt and Kelly Daugherty and husband Jim all of Buckhannon; one son, David Stone of Mauldin, SC; one granddaughter, Jina Lowther; three grandsons, Josh and Joel Lowther and Levi Daugherty; one sister, Linda Coughlin and husband Dave of Buckhannon; sister in law, Lois McCoy of Buckhannon and several nieces and nephews. Joan was a homemaker and a member of the Living Word Church of God. She enjoyed gardening, painting and jewelry making. Her life revolved around her children and grandchildren but most of all serving the Lord. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and church family. Friends will be received Saturday, October 31, 2009 from 4-9 PM at the Poling-St.Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 3 PM Sunday at the Living Word Church of God with the Rev. Frank Spears officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Veterans Cemetery in Buckhannon. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
