Marietta Snow Gillespie, 98, of Buckhannon, West Virginia, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones, on May 14, 2024. Born on August 21, 1925, in Upshur County, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Dalton and Nona Hornbeck Snow. Marietta was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Percy Lowell Gillespie, and sons Steven Lowell and Thomas Snow Gillespie. She joins in eternal rest her brother, Boyce Snow, and sisters Louetta Paugh and Dorthy Lane. Surviving Marietta are her daughters Rosetta (Ed) Kelley and Barbara (Larry) Jent, daughters-in-law Opal and Sue Gillespie, and son Matthew Paul (Rena) Gillespie. She also leaves a loving legacy for her 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, and sisters Garnetta Banks, Hilda Sayre, and Geraldine Villers. Marietta was a longtime member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and a devoted member of the Heavner Grove Community Educational Outreach Service. A skilled seamstress, she found joy in quilting and creating beautiful dolls. Above all, Marietta was known for her tireless work ethic and unwavering dedication to her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Services will be private.
