Obituary of Julia "Judy" White McDaniels

Please share a memory of Julia "Judy" to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

With both sadness and joy the family of Julia “Judy” White McDaniels announces that on April 10, 2024, she gained her heavenly home where she was welcomed by her Lord and Savior and by a multitude of family and friends. Julia Rose was born on July 4, 1936, to Arvilla Ashcraft.  This birth date is quite fitting because all who were blessed to know this amazing woman would agree that she was indeed a “firecracker” who brought light, laughter and fun to all who knew her and who were loved by her. On February 7, 1953, she married S. D. McDaniels who preceded her in death along with two sons, Steven Douglas McDaniels and Timothy Dale McDaniels, daughter- in- law Shawn McDaniels, half- sister Genevieve “Toots” Smith and mother Arvilla Ashcraft Coughlin. Left to forever cherish her memory are two sons, Pastor Ed McDaniels (Janet), and Scott McDaniels (Leisa) and daughter, Laura McDaniels Page (Mike). One half-sister, Sharon Hosaflook Craig. She was lovingly known as Mem to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her grandchildren, Matthew (Becky) McDaniels, Andrew (Laura) McDaniels, Nicholas (Amie) McDaniels, Christopher (Jennifer) McDaniels, Kelly Page (Zachary Samples) Jon McDaniels (Ciara) Alexis McDaniels, Cora Brown (Wesley) Hollie, Brad and Autumn. Her great grandchildren, Shelby, Brody, Charlie, Jaxon, Avery, Kinsley, Olivia, Eleanor, Kaiden, Zayden, Hayden, Tripp, Dalton, Elizabeth, Haile, and Tipper. Her wit, sense of humor, orneriness, devotion, compassion, resilience, humbleness, and unconditional love are part of her legacy that she leaves in the hearts of those who cherish her.  Her family acknowledges that she truly was the hub that kept the family together and her influence and wisdom will be deeply missed. She loved music and her foot was always tapping, and her mouth was always moving whether she was listening to band music, gospel music, country music or her beloved Elvis.  In her sophomore year of high school, she was selected to be a B-U Majorette which proved to be a proud life-time accomplishment. She enjoyed working cross word puzzles, watching game shows and caring for her four-legged cat family. She worked at Professional Credit, Heck’s Dept. Store, It’s A Deal and Strader’s. But she’d quickly tell you the job that brought her the most joy was that of being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a woman of faith whose trust in God began when she was just a little girl. She was a dedicated member of Christian Fellowship Church where she served where and when needed. The family would like to thank Mary Gower, her lifelong friend Thanna Wentz, Bill and Debbie Groggs, Clay and Karen Persinger, Kenny and Jill Andrew, and Jill Stemple. These people, along with many other church friends, brought joy to her life by visiting, calling, sending cards and faithfully checking on her. A very heartfelt thank you to the compassionate and caring staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital who not only cared so wonderfully for her but also for her family. We will forever be grateful for their support. Friends will be received at Christian Fellowship Church on Saturday, April 13th from 11:00 – 2:00. The celebration of life service will begin at 2:00 with Pastor Ed McDaniels officiating. Burial will be at the Pleasant Dale Cemetery at Selbyville. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you keep them in prayer and encourages you to take time to make memories with your loved ones…..Thank you Julia Rose McDaniels for all the incredible memories that will forever keep you alive in our hearts. For those unable to attend Judy’s service you are welcome to watch it on Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home’s website. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
