Obituary of Sarah Dianna Frush

It is with profound sadness and much love that the family of SARAH DIANNA FRUSH announce her passing on February 20, 2024, after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer that she did with grace, dignity, and courage. Through her, we know what perseverance and resilience truly look like. Sarah was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia on March 31, 1943, to John and Theresa Paletta Gervella, who preceded her in death. She was a 1961 graduate of Washington Irving High School, Clarksburg, WV. Following graduation, she began work at Harry Green Chevrolet on West Pike Street and then worked at Public Finance where she remained until 1972. She met Gary Frush at the Satellite Drive-In in 1964. The following year they were married in Winchester, VA and then lived together in Clarksburg before relocating to Buckhannon in 1974. Following her career of being a stay-at-home mom, Sarah returned to work in 1981 for the Upshur County School System and Buckhannon Work Adjustment Center where she worked until she retired in 2005. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Buckhannon. Sarah’s talents were many - knitting, sewing, cross stitching, cooking. One of her greatest joys was making exquisitely decorated sugar cookies for holidays and special occasions. She cared deeply for her family and friends and gave of herself limitlessly. No amount of time with Sarah would have been enough, though the memory of her beautiful smile will last us all several lifetimes. Sarah will be missed by her husband of 59 years, Gary; daughters: Lisa Parsons and husband, Kyle, of Timonium, MD and Lori Schmelz and husband, Mark, of Eugene, OR; grandchildren: Giulia Parsons of Phoenix, AZ; Sophia Parsons of Timonium, MD; and Lillie and Luke Schmelz of Eugene, OR; sister-in-law, Lorraine Gervella; nephew and niece, Larry and Theresa Gervella; uncle, Tony Paletta and wife, Nancy, of Strongsville, OH; as well as numerous relatives and special friends, including Nana’s Squad - Cheryl, Jane, and Marilyn. In addition to her parents, Sarah was predeceased by brothers, Frankie J. and John (Junior); father-in-law, Edgar Frush; and mother-in-law, Ruth Frush. The family would like to express our gratitude to WVU Hospice for the wonderful help and care given by Adam, Amanda, Barbara, Beth, Debbie, Donna, Joyce, Kim, Tina, and Todd. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, from 5-8 pm at the First United Methodist Church, 52 S Florida St, Buckhannon. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on February 29, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Steven Meadows officiating. Following the ceremony, a reception will be held at the church and burial will follow at 2PM in the West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton, WV.
