Obituary of Frank Harrison, Jr.

Frank Harrison, Jr., age 83, of Buckhannon, WV, died Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Mountain Memories in Elkins, WV. He was born September 11, 1940, in McComas, WV, a son of the late Frank, Sr. and Edna McKinney Harrison. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Marie Pedneau, a favorite aunt, who was like a second mother to him; son, Kevin “Skip” Harrison; brother, Richard Harrison; sister-in-law, Christine Harrison and nephew, Jamie. He is survived by his wife, Dr. Debra Harrison of Buckhannon; two daughters, Susan Wiseman and husband Charlie of Beckley, WV and Kelsey Ebrahim of Beckley; two step-sons, Richard Bryan Simon and wife Deb of New River Gorge, WV and Robert Bradly Simon and wife Christine of Carmel, IN; one grandson, Seth Wiseman of Beckley; brother, James Harrison and wife Cheryl of Draper, VA; special friend and caregiver, Martha Landis of Buckhannon and nieces and nephews, Richard, Lisa, Steven, Beth, and Jenni. Mr. Harrison was a Methodist by faith, attended the First United Methodist Church in Buckhannon, and served as a lay speaker in the Beckley District for many years. By trade, Frank was both a teacher as well as a high school and collegiate coach, coaching basketball, golf, and tennis. His most interesting position was teaching math to inmates at the Federal Prison in Glenville, WV. In his spare time, he was an avid golfer and WVU sports fanatic. Frank was a unique individual who truly loved life, was dedicated to his faith and will be missed by all who knew him. Friends will be received Friday, February 23, 2024, from 1PM to 3PM at the First United Methodist Church in Buckhannon. A funeral service will be held at 3PM with Rev. Steven Meadows officiating.
