Cathryn Francis Nicholson Grogg Pumphrey, age 70, of Buckhannon, WV, died Sunday, August 6, 2023, at WVU Medicine United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV. She was born August 23, 1952, in Weston, WV, a daughter of the late Ambrose and Isabell Aylor Nicholson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Noretha Bonnett, Georgia Hefner and Rebecca Nicholson and four brothers, Harold, Robert and Stephen Small and Thomas Nicholson. Surviving are two daughters, Frances Cleavenger and husband Austin of Buckhannon and Emily Fallo and J.D. of Weston; two sons, Jason Grogg of Buckhannon and George “Moe” Grogg, Jr. and wife Missy of Philippi, WV; two grandsons, Bailey Cleavenger of Buckhannon and Jeffrey Fallo of Weston; four granddaughters, Megan Fallo of Charleston, WV, Jacinda Williams and Tori Rhodes both of Ripley, WV and Stefhany Heron of Spencer, WV; three step granddaughters, Kristi, Kayla and Karissa all of Philippi; three special great granddaughters, Arya, Zay and Haven; several other great grandchildren; one sister, Virginia Murphy and husband Eddie of Weston; two sisters-in-law, Florence Nicholson of Weston and Susan Small of OH and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Pumphrey was a caregiver and a cook at the Sage Brush Round-up in Fairmont, WV. She loved to roller skate and was a friend to anyone she met. Cathryn was always there for her friends or family anytime they needed her. She was a funny and feisty soul that will be remembered and dearly missed for a long time. Cathryn was a wonderful mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. In honoring her wishes, Mrs. Pumphrey will be cremated with no public service. A private Celebration of Life will be held for the family at a later date. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
