George Edward Dean

George Edward Dean, age 92, of Buckhannon, WV, died Sunday, April 23, 2023. He was born December 4, 1930, in Buckhannon, a son of the late George Arnett and Zelda Wolf Dean. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Kelly and Elaine Tenney; two brothers, Larry and Gale Dean and three nephews. He is survived by one sister, Joanne Scruggs of Chesapeake, VA and nine nieces and nephews. Mr. Dean served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and served three tours in Vietnam. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant after 21 years of service and he also received the Bronze Star Metal . A memorial service will be held 11 AM Saturday, August 12, 2023, with Pastor Ed Lowther officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Rupert Cemetery in Buckhannon. The Upshur County Honor Guard conducting Military Honors. In honoring his wishes, Mr. Dean will be cremated. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
