Jim and I were good friends while in school at Walkersville, and after I was transferred to Weston High School. I have fond memories of attending school dances at Walkersville and dancing to Bobby Vinton’s “Blue Velvet” and listening to Patula Clark’s “Down Town”. We attended Walkersville and Weston high school proms together. We square danced together at 4-H camp at Jackson’s Mill. I also cheered for him as he played basketball for Walkersville. He took me to my first Strawberry Festival in Buckhannon. We had wonderful times together. Rest in peace my friend.

Q: What will you never forget about James?
A: I will never forget the many many times he was a part of my Sunday school class. He knew his Bible and he was a good student of human nature. He was a joy to be around. I will miss him greatly, but, I will see him soon.

To Pastor Mary Ellen and their Family,
I was so sorrowful to hear of Jim’s passing. I know God will give you what you need each day to get through. Please find solace in the fact that Jim is Home now, resting in His Savior’s Arms where he was always meant to be. No pain or sadness, just joy, as he waits to be reunited with you all some day.
I remember when you all came to our little Speed UM Church in Roane County. Your children were just little boys. How the years have passed, but I still remember the breath of fresh Spirit you brought with you!
Jim’s smile and laughter filled the room. What a blessing!
Saying a prayer.
God Bless
Kathy (West) Clevenger
and
my husband Tom

I loved Mary and Jim as soon as I met them, and I knew without a doubt that they loved me and welcomed me into this precious family. Jim and I joked and cut up but also had some pretty deep discussions about so many things. He was intelligent, loved God and his family, and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was an extraordinarily special man and I’m so blessed to have gotten to know and love him.

Jim became family when his son, Mike, married our daughter, Abby. He soon became a friend that was closer than a brother. His humor and affectionate spirit brought us much joy, and his prayers were deeply appreciated. We loved him dearly and will always miss him. We send our deepest condolences and prayers to Mary Ellen and family. We pray that memories of happy days past will bring comfort in the difficult days ahead. Sending love to you all,

Dear MaryEllen, I was so honored to have know Jim on a professional basis in pharmacy before I knew you! I was so thrilled to get to see him and talk with him at District events when I served in Wesleyan District. I know he has had health issues but I also know how concerned he was for you. I beleivehis prayers were heard and answered by his Lord and Savior for you to recover, so you would best be able to cope with this time.God is holding you in the loving warmth of His strong hands. God is watching over and guiding the kids and grandchildren, too, comforting them through this time of pain. I will hold you all in my prayers and add you to our prayer list. With much love and care, Jackie Chambers, local pastor
