Denise Lee VanGilder, age 58, of Buckhannon, WV, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born November 24, 1964, in Weirton, WV, a daughter of the late Harold and Patricia Trotter Leasure. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, James “Jimmy” Hilderbrand. She is survived by her husband, Larry VanGilder of French Creek, WV; one daughter, Brittany Exline and husband Danny of Buckhannon; one son, Shaun Peggs and husband Brian Novak of Mount Morris, PA; one grandson, Garett Exline of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Lindsey Exline of Buckhannon; one sister, Tasha Hilderbrand of Mingo Junction, OH and two nephews, Michael and Braeden Hilderbrand both of Mingo Junction. Denise loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, taking drives through the country, watching butterflies and all animals. Friends will be received Monday, April 24, 2023, from 3 PM to 7 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 7 PM Monday evening at the funeral home with Pastor Ed Lowther officiating. Following the service, she will be cremated.
