Dear Mary and Jeff,
I have so many fabulous memories of Charlie and the "Martin" family. From corn bread and beans or "steak house" Sunday dinners, to "Taco" Super Bowl parties, to "road trips to NY". I was so fortunate to be welcomed into a home filled with love and acceptance. Charlie took so much joy in watching all sports from Jeff's baseball games to my softball games. It was always so comforting knowing I had you both there caring for me as if I were your own. My college and formative years were shaped by the character of people like you and Charlie. He will be welcomed into heaven with open arms by our Kelly girl. I hope you are comforted knowing that so many lives were touched by you and Charlie's kindness and love. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Rest gently kind soul.

Mary,
A last thank you to our neighbor Charlie for all of his kindness to our family over many years. Mother would especially want to mention how faithfully he cleared snow off cars and made paths through the snow for her and her care givers. So many good memories. Our love and prayers to Mary and family as they celebrate Charlie’s life.

One of my favorite memories of Mr. Martin was looking up during an intramural basketball game at Wesleyan and seeing him smiling in the doorway of the auxiliary gym. He loved to watch Jeff play sports. He was so proud of him and didn't want to miss even a meaningless intramural basketball game if it meant watching his son do something he loved. Seems like such an insignificant moment, but isn't that often where the good stuff is? It was not insignificant to me. Great dads show up, even for the little stuff. Love you Jeff and Mary and pray for peace and healing.
