Obituary of Annetta Delores Jordon

Delores Jordon (Pugh) shed her earthly bonds on March 12, 2023, in the comfort of her home surrounded by, and in the constant care of her loving family, under the guidance of WVU Hospice. Delores entered this world on August 26, 1940 on Hodam Creek in Webster county, at the home of her parents Bernard W. Pugh Sr. and Lula Pugh (McCartney). There she joined three sisters and would go on to be joined by five more sisters and a brother.  Born to parents that began their life together during the Great Depression, Delores and her siblings were instilled with a strong work ethic, dedication to family, and the skills needed to be self-sufficient. These things she would keep in practice and pass down to her children. Delores attended  grades one through eight at the one room school on Hodam Creek, and attended Webster Springs High School before meeting a soldier, home on leave, with whom she’d spend the rest of her life. That life did not involve ever being on a payroll or being compensated monetarily for her decades of hard work, but gave her the ultimate satisfaction of caring for her family in every way, from being nurse and doctor, to preparing meals, making clothes, quilts, and rugs, to planting, harvesting and canning. These things along with her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her the most joy. Delores is survived by her husband of 65 years, Patty K. “Pat” Jordon. Also surviving are a son Daymon Jordon and wife Patty of Buckhannon, daughter Madonna Jordon and husband Mitch Blake of Horner, granddaughter Heather McNemar and husband Bronson of Buckhannon, grandson Theo Chidester and wife Ceara of Gaines, and great grandson Gunner McNemar of Buckhannon.  Also surviving are sisters Agnes Bleigh of Buckhannon, Barbara Quinn, Sharon Pugh, and Patricia Barbe and husband Robert, all of Hacker Valley, and one brother Bernard Pugh Jr. also of Hacker Valley.  Coming from a large family and marrying into a large family, she was “Aunt Delores” to over 40 nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Delores was preceded in death by sisters Geraldine Roode, Lavonne Funkhouser, Frances Quinn, and Lucille Barbe. In honoring her wishes she will be cremated with no services at this time. Her final resting place will be in the Vance Cemetery on Holly River in Webster County, where there will be a small gathering at a later date.
