Mason Junior Hoover, 94 of Tallmansville, WV, passed away on Tuesday March 7, at Autumn Lake Nursing Home and Healthcare Center at Elkins, WV. He was born December 24, 1928, a son of the late Charles Houston and Eva F. (Kelly) Hoover. He married the love of his life, Annabell (Zickefoose) Hoover on March 23, 1951. They shared 70 years of marriage, until her passing on April 10, 2021. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by two brothers and their spouses, Troy (Della), Ralph (Winnie Jean) Hoover; one brother-in-law, Emery Tenney; one great granddaughter; one grandson; one great-great grandson and one great-great granddaughter. He is survived by sister Jean Tenney of Trubies Run; four children, Donald (Mavis) Hoover and family, Brain (Wilma), Cody Hoover; Mary Eva (Spike) Tenney and family Todd (Jeannie), Chris (Mandy) Tenney of Tallmansville, Kasey (Nate) Shreve of Jane Lew; Richard (Becky) Hoover and family Sierra, Brittany, Elizabeth;   Ronald (Jannie), and family Waylon, Melinda, Abby; 19 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; several step great grandchildren and many nieces/nephews. Mason was a proud Veteran of the Korean War, serving in the army 424 Artillery Unit. He attended over 20 424 Army Reunions in many states. He loved his country very much. He was a hero, husband, dad, and a very proud grandpa. He was a proud man in every aspect of his life, on the farm and in his Hoover & Hoover Rail Fence business. He truly loved life. His rail fence can be seen in many states. He loved working with his sons and still used his pride horses in the logging business. Friends will be received Thursday, March 9, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 10, 2023, with Pastor Holly J. Hoover and Rev. Brad Tenney officiating. Burial will follow in the WV National Cemetery in Pruntytown, WV. The Upshur County Honor Guard will provide military honors. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his honor to your local Veteran’s Association or a charity of your choice.
