StoutRobert Robert “Bob” Edward Stout Robert “Bob” Edward Stout, age 85, of Buckhannon, WV, (formerly of Salem, WV) passed away on October 6, 2008, at home, with his wife, children, and two special nephews, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 28, 1923 in Lightburn, WV to Erma Meredith Stout and Zelphia Mary (Seckman) Stout. He is survived by his loving wife and soul mate, Sarah Louise Ash, whom he married on October 25, 1947. Also surviving are his son, Robert Edward Stout Jr., and wife Karen of Scott Depot, WV; two daughters Linda L. Johnson and husband Brent of Pittsburgh, PA and Shelia L. Moss, and husband Marlin of Charleston, WV; six grandchildren, Kimberly Reilly and husband Kevin of Pittsburgh, Charlie Moss and companion Michelle Hager, Alicia Pluebell and husband Michael, of Pittsburgh, Samantha Stout of Scott Depot, Carrie Combs and husband Matthew of Charleston and Robert Stout III of Scott Depot. Three great-grandchildren Sarah and Hanna Reilly of Pittsburgh and Cindy Hager of Charleston. Also several special nieces and nephews who are loved deeply and are a very important part of the Stout family. Mr. Stout was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers. Mr. Stout was a graduate of West Union High School and received a Bachelor of Science from Salem College. He also served four years in the United States Army, serving his country as a World War II veteran. He received several awards including three Bronze Stars, American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and Victory Medal. Mr. Stout retired from Equitable Life Insurance Company in 1985 as a manager after 36 years of service. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge #156 AF&AM, The Moose, Elks Club, VFW and the American Legion. Mr. Stout was a Baptist by faith and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed golfing, hunting, gardening and was an avid WVU fan. Mr. Stout was a wonderful man who never knew a stranger and was loved by all who knew him. He will be missed greatly, but his memory will live on forever through his family and friends. The family would like to thank St. Joseph’s Hospice, especially Harold and Connie, for their help and kindness. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home, 95 S. Kanawha Street, Buckhannon, WV from 4-8 PM Wednesday, October 8, 2008 and at Harbert Funeral Home, 287 W. Main Street, Salem, WV from 2-8 PM on Thursday, October 9, 2008. Interment will be Friday, October 10, 2008 at Center Point Cemetery following a brief service at the Center Point Christian Church at 2 PM with the minister Roger Fontaine officiating. Clarksburg Lodge # 155 AF & AM will assemble at the church at 1:30 PM for the purpose of attending and conducting Masonic graveside rites. Doddridge combined military organizations will conduct military honors at the graveside. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
