Obituary of Phyllis Dawn Coyner

Phyllis Dawn Coyner, age 78, of Buckhannon, WV, died Monday, October 17, 2022, at the Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center in Elkins, WV. She was born December 15, 1943, in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Marple and Madie Glass Hornbeck. On April 8, 1967, she married Larry Lee Coyner who preceded her in death on April 21, 1997. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Sharron Sue Garman. She is survived by her special nieces, Ammie Garman and husband Jim Valenson and Megan Kimble and husband J.B. all of Buckhannon; several nieces and nephews; special great niece, Jansen Kimble of Buckhannon; special great nephews, Hoyt Kimble of Buckhannon; several great nieces and great nephews; one brother-in-law, Ron Garman of Braxton County, WV; one sister-in-law, Ricki Dean and husband Tony of GA and several cousins. Mrs. Coyner was a BUHS graduate. She graduated from the Morgantown Beauty School in 1962. Phyllis worked for several beauty shops and owned her own beauty shop. She retired from The Golden Razor in Buckhannon in 2018. She loved talking to her customers and they followed her everywhere she worked. Phyllis bowled for quite a few years and ended up in tournaments in Las Vegas and would often be seen playing BINGO at the Moose or the Elks in Buckhannon. She was an avid WVU Football fan and loved watching Crime TV. Phyllis was known for her baked steak by the pound, and she loved her black coffee. Friends will be received Friday, October 21, 2022, from 11 AM until 1 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held  1 PM Friday at the Funeral Home with Pastor J. Edward McDaniels officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
