Obituary of Russell Wilson Helton

Russell Wilson Helton passed away on July 8, 2022. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland to Russell Wade Helton and Elsie Mildred (Wilson) Helton on August 10, 1948. He bravely served in the A Shau Valley in Vietnam for the US Army from 1968 through 1970. Russell relocated to Upshur County in 1978 where he enjoyed a lifetime of hunting, fishing, camping and gardening. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Shirley Jean Helton. Russell is generously donating the entirety of his estate to the Shriners Hospitals for Children and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. He will be missed by his buddies, Randy, Gary, Charles and Bobby, as well as his faithful pup, Maggie. Friends will be received Thursday, July 14, 2022, from 4 PM to 6 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery in Buckhannon, WV. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Shriners Children’s Hospital.
