Alma Mae McCray, age 91, of French Creek, WV, departed to her heavenly home on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Elkins Regional Convalescent Center in Elkins. She was born April 19, 1931, to the late Max Hamner and Almeda Helms Hamner in Freeport, PA. In addition to her parents and husband, John E. McCray, she is reunited in heaven with her daughter, Donna Bender, son, Terry Bender, grandson, Chris Bender, great-grandson, Hartzel Keith Chidester and brothers-in-law, Rosco Peck and Dave Elmore. Mrs. McCray is survived by her children, Sue Harris of Buckhannon, Kay Putnam and husband Richard of Summerfield, FL, Carla Canfield and husband Charles of Buckhannon, Gaila Smith and husband Jim of French Creek, John McCray of Golden, CO, Marty McCray and wife Lorrie of Adrian, WV, step children, Betty McCray, Norma Phares and Donis Carter and husband Tom all of Poplar Bluff, MO;  daughters-in-law, Diane Bender and Betty Bender both of Rock Cave, WV; grandchildren, Fred and David Harris, Robin DeGarmo and Lee Harris and wife Dora all of Buckhannon, Calli Fernung and husband Andrew of Ocala, FL, David, Rick and Kevin Putnam of Northern, VA, C.W. Canfield and wife Sarah of Houston, TX, Shauna Ushko and husband James of Umitila, FL, Mindy Holguin of Buckhannon, Jennifer Snodgrass and husband Cliff of Sutton, WV, Jason Hull of French Creek, Danielle Egress and husband Jimmy of French Creek, Tony Bender and wife Dreama of Walkersville, WV, Laura Chidester and husband Sonny, Craig Bender and wife Trudy and Philip Bender and wife Tammy all of Rock Cave, Jack McCray of Golden, Katlyn Crowe of NJ, Gwendolyn Weese of Buckhannon and Natasha Perry and husband Chris of French Creek; several great-great grandchildren; sisters, Avilida Densmore of Port St. Joe, FL, Samanna Peck of Rock Cave, Dorothy Rice and husband John of French Creek, Ann Elmore of French Creek, Linda Fitzgerald and husband Kenny of Rock Cave, Sonny “Max” Hamner, Jr. of Steubenville, OH, Delmis Hamner of Rock Cave. Mrs. McCray was a homemaker. She was a member of the Good Hope Tabernacle of Buckhannon. She loved reading her Bible, gardening, sewing and painting pictures of the Goshen Church and the old home place for her children. She enjoyed sharing her love for the Lord and all his creations in nature. Mrs. McCray would want us to rejoice as she is now with her Lord and Savior. Friends will be received Sunday, June 5, 2022, from 10 AM until 11 AM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Sunday at the funeral home with Randall Roy officiating. Burial will follow in the Goshen Cemetery in Canaan, WV. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Goshen Cemetery c/o Wayne Strader 2744 Eden Rd. Rock Cave, WV 26234. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
