Obituary of Denville L. "Wimpy" Vandall
D.L. “Wimpy” Vandall, of Buckhannon, WV, died Saturday, April 30, 2022, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born June 7, 1928, in Elton, WV, a son of the late Wilbur and Lenore Sifers Vandall. He is survived by his wife, Emmojean Redden Vandall, on April 23, they had just celebrated 70 years of marriage. Also surviving, are one son, Donald Vandall of Buckhannon; grandchildren, Donald Vandall Jr. of Buckhannon, Robert DeMark of Philadelphia, PA, Frank Joas, Alyssa Lubonski of Buckhannon, and one great-granddaughter Alitia Ryland. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Billy Joe Vandall. Wimpy was a WWII Veteran of the US Marine Corps, having served in the South Pacific. He was a sharp-shooter marksman, and he held the Ranger Record for 30 years. Mr. Vandall went on to be a Machinist for Boeing Aircraft, helping design motors and transmission parts for aircrafts, up until his retirement. His body parts were to be given to CORE in PA, if useable. Friends will be received, Saturday, May 7, 2022, from 2 PM to 6 PM, at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home, in Buckhannon. The Upshur County Honor Guard will perform Military Honors at the funeral home, at 2 PM to begin the visitation. In Lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to, the Boy Scouts of America Troop 100 in Buckhannon, c/o Scout Leader Clayton Tenney. In honoring Wimpy’s wishes, he will be cremated following the visitation and his ashes will be scattered on his farm with his beloved dogs.
