Obituary of Anna Ruth Stalnaker
Anna Ruth Stalnaker, age 80, of Buckhannon, WV, died Monday, March 14, 2022, at her home. She was born September 15, 1941, in Elkins, WV, a daughter of the late Chester and Creta Summerfield Phillips. On July 1, 1959, she married William Paul Stalnaker who preceded her in death on April 24, 2021. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Dorman, Alan, William, Boyd and Calvin Phillips; one sister, Clara Phillips and two sisters-in-law, Helen and Lillian Phillips. She is survived by three daughters, Deborah Schrock and fiancée Chuck Kati, Lori Black and husband David and Mary DeRico and husband Mike all of Buckhannon; one son, James Stalnaker and life partner Lisa Wireman of Buckhannon; three granddaughters, Angelica Black and Heather (Bennett) Wright and husband Mark all of Buckhannon and Tessa (Bennett) Gaughan of Sanford, NC; three grandsons, Michael Stalnaker and fiancée Latasha Friend of Ellamore, WV and Samuel Stalnaker and girlfriend Lilly Willits and Devin Black all of Buckhannon; four great-grandsons, Landon and Brody Wright both of Buckhannon and Aiden and Grayson Gaughan both of Sanford, NC; one great-granddaughter, Shelby Stalnaker of Ellamore; one brother, Kenneth Phillips and wife Shelia of Elkins; one sister, Wilma Miller and husband Robert of TN and two sisters-in-law, Glenna Phillips of Elkins and Shirley Phillips of Huntington, WV. Mrs. Stalnaker attended the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Buckhannon and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Coalton, WV. She was a founding member of the Washington District Fire Department, member of the Washington District Lady’s Auxiliary, Tallmansville CEO’s, the Alter and Rosary Society and co-owner of Wild Bill’s Rock Hut and Flea Market. She loved to do all kinds of crafts, bake and volunteer work. She loved her cats, Pinky and Greenie and was a loving, caring compassionate woman, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who would give you the shirt off her back. She will be greatly missed. Friends will be received Friday, March 18, 2022 from 4 PM to 8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held Saturday at 11 AM at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Coalton, WV, with Father James E. O’Conner as celebrant. In honoring Mrs. Stalnaker’s wishes, she will be cremated following services. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
