Our hearts break for the loss of this good man in the lives of his family and friends. However, our loss is heaven’s gain.
Darrell and Marie were close friends of my parents as well as kin (Mom, Edna Rowan Burford, being a young aunt to Marie). Darrell, or ‘Bonner’ as my dad called him, was a good friend to Dad at a time of his life when good friends were scarce. He always listened patiently to Dad’s embellished tales with a bemused grin on his face and a respectful nod and chuckle at the ready. What a rare gift of friendship!
I never lived close enough to get to know many of my cousins or their families, and I am the worse for it. I regret not being able to enjoy Darrell’s company, sense of humor, and life stories more than I did.
This one thing I’m sure of: he will be missed!
