My sisters and I knew Ed since we were all very young. He was with Heavens Ramblers from Glenville and we traveled with them and sang too. We kept in touch through the years. It was a shock to see our friend die so young. God Bless the family.

I’m so so sorry to hear of Ed’s passing. The first time I recall meeting Ed, he was singing with the Kingsmen. I had cracked my femur bone. And of course I was on Crutches. And he seen my Son and myself coming in the door.He came a running to help me in. He became a close friend through the years.
The Gentle Giant of Gospel Music.
Many many prayers for his Family. Til we meet again Ed. RIP

When I first started playing out of Nashville, I had the honor of meeting Ed Crawford, but only in passing. I was still holding a full time job in northern Indiana, so I did a lot of commuting as a "weekend warrior."
When my employer eliminated my department and laid me off, I had the opportunity to go to Nashville full time. When I arrived for a meeting that Ed was a part of, and him not knowing my situation, he approached me and said that he had woke up during the night with a burden to pray for me, and that the Lord told him to give me a key to his house along with an invitation to stay with them as long as I needed it.
He didn't know me from the man in the moon, but he opened his home up to me and we quickly became very close friends, and have remained friends from then on.
He hired me to produce videos and cd art for the Mystery Men. He often asked for my help in the studio, helped me when I was in the studio, and introduced me to everyone in the industry that he could.
He traveled to my area of Michigan many times in the last ten years, and always stayed with my family, sometimes for several weeks at a time as a base of operations, and worked on songs and videos in my studio during his down time.
To my wife and I, he was brother. To my kids, he was Uncle Ed. Ţo the many that were saved during the many revivals, he was the one that the Holy Spirit sent to led them to Jesus!
He would have done anything for us, and I would have done anything for him.
He was my friend!

I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Crawfords passing. I heard The Mystery Men sing for the first time when my 17 year old son was asked to be in the "Who Prayed For Me" video. That song means so much to me, because at the time I had no clue that my son was using heroin. After finding out about the addiction, there were many people praying for his recovery. I WAS that mom in the video praying! My son is now 30 years old with two sons of his own. He is clean, thriving, and I have my son back.
I listen to this song often, and thank God for The Mystery Men getting me through a very rough time. Many of my sons friends did not make out of their addictions.
God Bless you! You are in my thoughts and prayers!!

Bob and Rella- My heartfelt sympathy and condolences for your loss. Ed was a gentleman in every sense of the word and although I didn't know him as well as I would have like to, I recognized his love for GOD and his willingness to use his amazing talent to spread the Gospel wherever he went.

Dear Family of Ed Crawford, Please know Pat and I were so shocked and saddened upon hearing of Ed's untimely death. We remember sharing part of his long and distinguished career in gospel music with the Challengers and subsequent groups. 40+ years ago at Light Chapel, at Buckhannon-Upshur High School, along the way for revival at Christian Fellowship Church and other appearances. The last time I talked to him was several months ago when he dropped by Christian Fellowship Church and sang 3-4 songs for our Sunday service. Always a blessing with his many achievements and talent to deliver his ministry in music, which few can duplicate. Someone once said, "Death can separate us physically, but it can never separate us from our memories." Sincere condolences to family and all who knew him. Jim & Pat Marsh

Older brother Bob coached them on the Central School basketball team. Bob passed on June 30, 2021. May God bless you all during this time of grief.
