Rev. Roger L. Beckner, age 68, of Buckhannon, WV died Saturday, October 1, 2011 at his home under the care of People’s Hospice, surrounded by his family. He was born May 4, 1943 in Century, WV, a son of the late Robert and Clara Smith Beckner. On February 27, 1997 he married Maggie Chamberlain who survives. Also, surviving are one daughter, Sarah Newcome and husband Chad of Ellamore, WV; one son, David L. Beckner and fiancé Sarah Weaver of Buckhannon; two grandsons, Dylan and Branden Newcome both of Ellamore; two granddaughters, Emma Beckner and Kelly Weaver both of Buckhannon; four brothers, Berry, Randy, Jackie and Ronnie Beckner all of Buckhannon; two sisters, Diane Thompson of Cleveland, OH and Anita Harris of Buckhannon ; special niece, Vinnie (Peanuckle) Ables of Buckhannon and several nieces and nephews. In addition to is parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Wolford and Susan Augustine and two brothers, Jerry and Robert Beckner. Mr. Beckner had a Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Theology from WV Christian University of Buckhannon and was a member of the Alumni Assoc. He attended the River of Living Water Ministry in Elkins, WV. Roger was also a member of the Christian Ministerial Assoc. He worked for the B&O Railroad as a foreman. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a friend to many. Friends will be received Tuesday, October 4, 2011 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 10 AM Wednesday at the funeral home, conducted by his son and daughter. Burial will follow in the Mt. Union Church Cemetery in Tallmansville, WV.
