Virgie Mae Landers, age 87, of Buckhannon, WV, died Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon. She was born June 5, 1934, in Gilmer County, WV, a daughter of the late Virgil and Ora Wilmoth Spore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Lewis Landers; three sisters, Mabel Lough, Annabelle Lipps and Reda Lowther and three brothers, Robert, Raymond and her twin, Virgil Bud Spore. She is survived by one daughter, Loretta Koon of Bellaire, OH; two sons, Charles J. Landers and wife Rose of Akron, OH and Howard J. Landers and wife Barbara of Weston, WV; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews and her special nieces, Mary Herndon of Buckhannon. Mrs. Landers was a Senior Companion and a Christian by faith. A lifelong scholar, she attended the Literacy School and held a position on their board. Friends will be received Thursday, September 30, 2021, from 5 PM to 8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 AM with Mary Herndon officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Church Cemetery in Hodgesville, WV. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
