ShipmanGenevieve Genevieve P. Shipman Genevieve “Genny” P. Shipman, age 84, of Belington, WV died peacefully Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Upshur County, WV on October 13, 1922 a daughter of the late George Sherman Phillips and Alvertie Lee Crites Phillips. On October 17, 1946 she married Dr. James Trusler Shipman who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Sarah Shipman-Kuntz and her husband Jerry of Belington, Susannah Clark and her husband Gerald K. of Clarksburg, WV and Sudie Shipman of Fort Lauderdale, FL; three grandsons, John W. Cruise, III of Boca Raton, FL, William Clark of Clarksburg, and Eric Clark of Clarksburg; one granddaughter, Jennifer Cruise of Monroe, NC; three sisters, Ondelea Norris of Clarksburg, Norma Jean Postlethwait of Bridgeport, WV and Patricia Wolford of Indianapolis, IN and a niece Agnes “Sally” Shipman of Belington. Mrs. Shipman was a registered nurse in Ohio and West Virginia for 42 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Clarksburg and was a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, June 2, 2007 at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Buckhannon, WV with Sudie Shipman officiating. In lieu of flowers a donation in Genny’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at 22 North Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601-7633 . Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
