Obituary of Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Kanouff Staggs Stalnaker

Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Kanouff Staggs Stalnaker, age 92, of Buckhannon, WV, died Thursday, August 19, 2021, at St. Joseph’s Hospital Nursing Facility in Buckhannon. She was born September 9, 1928, in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late James and Gladiola Malcolm Kanouff. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands John Stalnaker, Harry Staggs and former husband John Levier and two brothers, Lawrence and Kenneth Kanouff. She is survived by one son, James Porter Levier and wife Betsy of Buckhannon; one daughter, Janet Wanstreet and husband Timothy of Bridgeport, WV; three step-sons, Ronald Staggs and wife Grace of Keyser, WV, Lonnie McDonald of Woodstock, VA and Rex Stalnaker and wife Kathy of Rock Cave, WV; two step-daughters, Sandy Jones of Fairfax, VA and Shelia Louk and husband Tony of Buckhannon; six grandchildren, Christopher Levier and wife Cheryl of Riversville, WV, Andrea Wanstreet of Morgantown, WV, Christina Wanstreet of Morgantown, Stephanie Tidd and husband Steve of Quiet Dell, WV, Alex Louk of Buckhannon and Lauren Louk of Buckhannon; three great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. Mrs. Stalnaker worked in sales and attended both the Way of Holiness and Christian Fellowship Church. In her later years, she took great joy in her church and fellowship with her church family. She lived all of her life only to make her family happy. Friends will be received Monday, August 23, 2021, from 11AM to 2 PM at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM at the funeral home with the Rev. J. Edward McDaniels officiating. Burial will take place Tuesday, August 24, 2021, 1PM in the Potomac Memorial Garden in Keyser, WV (597 Cemetery Rd, Keyser, WV 26726).
