Obituary of Elizabeth Jane Scott

Elizabeth Jane “Betty” Scott, age 81, of Buckhannon, WV, departed this life to go to her heavenly home on Sunday, February 14, 2021. She was born on August 31, 1939, a daughter of the late Martha Gower Dowell Black and Meyers Dowell in Buckhannon. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years Gene Scott. Also surviving are two daughters, Lavonne Stump of Buckhannon and Angela Dritto and husband Travis of Stuarts Draft, VA; one son, Terry Scott and wife Debbie of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Nina Stump of Morgantown, WV; one grandson, Jason Marsh and wife Moranda of Clarksburg, WV; two great-granddaughters, Gracie and Natiley both of Clarksburg; one brother, Gary Dowell and Barbara Replogle of Buckhannon; two sisters, Judy Tenney and husband Rev. Brad of Tallmansville, WV and Linda Smith and husband Robert of Manassas, VA; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews and cousins. Mrs. Scott worked in retail at various stores for several years and retired from Walmart after 19 years of service. She was a Christian and a member of the Brushy Fork CEO’s. Mrs. Scott loved people, seeing new places, shopping, fishing, reading, attending anything her granddaughter Nina was involved in and recently spent time making “ear savers” for masks and donating them to first responders and medical personnel in WV & VA. Most of all she loved spending time with her family who cherished and loved her dearly. Because of her love of reading, we ask in lieu of flowers please donate to your local Library or Literacy.
