Phillip Arrington Riggs, age 90, of Buckhannon, WV died Wednesday, September 16, 2020, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon. He was born July 17, 1930, in Weston, WV, a son of the late Sanford H. and Florence Emily Arrington Riggs. On April 16, 1955 he married Margie Smith who survives. Also surviving are, one son, Steven Riggs and wife Cynthia of Rock Cave, WV; two grandsons, Casen Riggs of East, PA and Timothy Perry and wife Erin of Sago, WV and one great-grandson, Andrew Perry of Sago, WV. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Diane Perry and great-grandson, Jonathan Perry. Mr. Riggs served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 – 1952. He worked for Columbia Gas for 39.5 years and was a member of the American Legion. Friends will be received Friday, September 18, 2020 from 11am to 12pm (noon) at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 12pm (noon). Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. The Upshur County Honor Guard will perform military honors at the gravesite.
