Betty Jean Allman
Betty Jean Allman, age 90, of Buckhannon, WV, died Sunday, July 26, 2020, at J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born November 3, 1929, in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Dennis and Opal Haymond Crites. On July 1, 1947 she married Eugene Worthington Allman who preceded her in death on December 31, 2010. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Dennis Crites, Jr. She is survived by three daughters, Sue Petonick and husband Lew of Fairmont, WV, Linda Browning of Lawrence, KS and Judi Lockhart and husband Les of St. Augustine, FL; one son, Mike Allman and wife Vonda of Buckhannon; five granddaughters, Christy Lindvall and husband Heath of Richmond, VA, Meghan Eddy and husband Jeff of Charlottesville, VA, Lori Howell and husband Mark of Lawrence, KS Adrienne McVey and husband Steve of Buckhannon, WV and Kaleigh Cioffi and husband Andrew of Chicago, IL; two grandsons, Collin Petonick and wife Nicole of Fairmont, WV and Zachary Allman and wife Wendy of Volga, WV; five great-grandsons, Erick Mayo of San Diego, CA, Cal Lindvall of Athens, GA, Bracken Eddy of Charlottesville, VA, Riley Howell of Lawrence, KS and Brandt Petonick of Fairmont, WV; seven great-granddaughters, Macy and Molly Howell both of Lawrence, KS, Kayla Lindvall of Richmond, VA Peyton Eddy of Charlottesville, VA Adelaide McVey of Buckhannon, WV and Mia and Kathryn Allman both of Volga, WV and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Allman was a homemaker, served as a cook in the Upshur County school system and a member of the South Buckhannon Mission Church. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the staff at Serenity Care Home in Buckhannon. Friends will be received Saturday, August 1, 2020 from 5 PM to 7 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 PM Sunday at the funeral home with Pastor Ed Lowther officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Hinkleville, WV.
