Llyod Curtis Saville
Curtis to those who knew him.
My grandfather.
A PROUD veteran, a respected Methodist Minister, a caring father, the indomitable Patriarch of the family.
He was a frugal man, but also the most generous man that I know. Whenever we needed shelter, he provided.
Whenever we needed education, he provided.
If a refrigerator suddenly stopped working, he would come and save the day.
If there wasn't enough for food, he'd share his with you.
He loved to go halves to help with important purchases—driveways, a new roof, maybe a new riding lawnmower.
"Show me you really want it, get over that halfway mark, and I'll make it a bit easier."
When we were down on our luck and in a hard place, he would reach out a helping hand and set us back on our feet.
He wasn't just generous to his family, but he gave his time and love to the community as well.
I remember we would go to Save-A-Lot, and he'd take us on a beeline to the bananas. Grandpa and Grandma would take them and pass them around to the nursing home, visiting those who might not get a visit from anyone else. They helped with meals-on-wheels, delivering food to those who needed it, making sure those who needed a meal, got it.
I know Grandpa is taking care of Mom and Aunt Cindi along with Grandma now in heaven, but I can't help but wish they were all still here with us today.
Thank you, Grandpa, for taking care of us while you were here.

I remember him fondly. He always had a big smile and playful spirit. We worked together on the Conference Commission of Archives and History. May he rest in peace. Kathy Hanko
