Obituary of Karl Gilbert Nixon

Karl Gilbert Nixon, age 96, of Buckhannon, WV, died Friday, April 10, 2020 at Holbrook Health Care Center in Buckhannon. He was born July 16, 1923, in Buckhannon, a son of the late James U. and Alta Pearl Hunt Nixon. On June 3, 1945, he married Ilene Sheppard who preceded him in death on February 24, 2020. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one brother, James Ray Nixon and one sister, Mary Kathryn Lewis. Mr. Nixon is survived by one daughter, Linda Cerullo and husband Bordeno of Raleigh, NC; one son, Karl “Butch” James Nixon and wife Deborah of Jacksonville, FL; two grandsons, Zachary Nixon of Jacksonville and Nicholas Cerullo and wife Kate of Wake Forest, NC; three granddaughters, Jennifer Parham of Raleigh, Natalie Kuhn and husband Walter of Charlotte, NC and Kelly Deluca and husband David of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL and 9 great-grandchildren. Mr. Nixon served in the U. S. Navy from May 10, 1943 to February 5, 1946. He was a Shift Foreman at Corhart Refractories and was a member of the VFW Post 3663, the Buckhannon Lions Club and the Franklin Lodge #7 A.F. & A.M.
