Evelyn Kemberley Rowan, age 88, of Buckhannon, WV, died Sunday, March 15, 2020, at Serenity Care Home in Buckhannon. She was born November 30, 1931, in Upshur County, WV, a daughter of the late William Roy and Carrie Leona Swick Smith. On August 19, 1951, she married John Carlton Rowan who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Hayward C. Smith; one sister, Angolia Woody, and two sisters-in-law, Margaret Bailey and Vera Kintz. She is survived by one sister-in-law, Wilma Jean Smith of Fairmont, WV; two nieces, Loretta Lee Queen of Buckhannon and Brenda Jo Classon of Fairmont, WV; two nephews, Michael Smith of Fairmont and Jimmy Bailey and wife Andrea of Buckhannon, and one great niece Carla Campbell of French Creek, WV. Mrs. Rowan was a Supervisor for the National Bank of Detroit. She was a member of the South Buckhannon Mission Church, and was a graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur High School in 1949. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and employees of Serenity Care Home and WV Hospice. Friends will be received Thursday, March 19, 2020 from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 PM Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Ed Lowther officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park in Buckhannon.
