Billy J. Ratliff
Billy J. Ratliff, age 85, of Buckhannon, WV died Saturday, March 28, 2015 at his home. He was born March 23, 1930 in Buckhannon, a son of the late Hughart Jake and Zenna Fidler Ratliff. On February 11, 1950 he married Margaret A. Brown who survives. Also surviving is one son, Steven Wayne Ratliff and wife Margaret “Marty” of Buckhannon; one daughter, Diana Mallett of Buckhannon; one grandson, Andy Bargeloh and wife Jessica Martin of Hickory, NC; four granddaughters, Amy Nicole Radabaugh and husband Jeff of Bridgeport, WV, Stephanie April Ratliff of Bridgeport, Lisa Marie Talbott and husband Shawn of Fairmont, WV and Stacie Nicole Biro and husband Andy of Fairmont; two great-granddaughters, Brynn Nicole Radabaugh of Bridgeport and Anna Grace Bargeloh of Hickory; one brother, Jim Ratliff and wife Anna Dell of Buckhannon; one sister, Ruth Kathryn “Kate” Ricottilli of Coalton, WV; twin sisters, Ima Jean Goodwin of Buckhannon and Emma Jean Cross of Morgantown, WV and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Lou Ratliff Ferrell Carpenter and a son in law, Bob Mallett. Mr. Ratliff a member of the Mt. Rupert United Methodist Church. In September he would have been a 50 year member of the Loyal Order of the Moose # 598. He was a member of the Kesling Mill Lions Club, the Shriner’s and 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Franklin Lodge # 7 A.F. & A.M. In 2009 he was crowned King of WV TOPS. He loved people and loved to make people laugh with his jokes. Mr. Ratliff was a strong believer in his Christian Faith. He was employed at Union Drilling and S.W. Jack Drilling during his lifetime and also a coal miner for Bethlehem Mines Corp. He loved riding his 4-wheeler with family and friends. Friends will be received Thursday, April 2, 2015 from 5-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 PM Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Calvin McCutcheon and the Rev. Jack M. Bohman officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. The Franklin Lodge #7 A.F. & A.M. will conduct Masonic graveside rites.
