Obituary of Marsh Small

Marsh Small Marsh Small, age 82, of Buckhannon, WV, died Sunday, February 16, 2020, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born September 21, 1937, in Greenbrier County, WV, a son of the late Valley and Coachie Boswell Small. On October 10, 1961, he married Bertha Jane Lanham who survives of Buckhannon. Also, surviving are three sons, Earnest Small and wife Pauline, Harry Small and wife Lena and Jesse Small and wife Jessie all of Buckhannon; six daughters, Annie Rigby and Bret Hayes, Marsha Peck and husband Larry, Loretta Courtney and husband Dave, Paulette Ball and husband Davy, Bobby Jo Merriman and husband James and Darlene Riley and husband William all of Buckhannon; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dick Small and wife Mary and Richard Small all of Buckhannon; two sisters, Stella Fortney of Statesville, NC and Flossie Small of Buckhannon and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Janet Lou Small; one grandson, Dallas Riley; one brother, Josh Small; two sisters-in-law, Mavis and Waneta Small and one brother-in-law, James Fortney. Mr. Small was the sole owner of Marsh Small Paving for 45 years. He loved to trade horses, and anything involved with horses. Friends will be received Wednesday, February 19, 2020 from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 PM Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dennis Estes officiating. Burial will follow in the Bailey Cemetery in Buckhannon. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
