Obituary of David Lee Crites

David Lee Crites, age 66, of Buckhannon, WV, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2020, at his home. He was born May 21, 1953, in Buckhannon, a son of the late Audra Ord Crites and Freda Mae Cook Crites. David is survived by one son, Scott Crites, of French Creek and granddaughter, Allison Crites, of Fairmont. He is also survived by one daughter, Shawna (Crites) Minervini and husband Joe, as well as grandchildren Derek, Adelyn and Angelise of Charlotte, NC. David is also survived by one brother, Bradley Crites and his wife, Jan, of Buckhannon and nephews Tom Crites and Rick Crites of Buckhannon. He is also survived by his former wife, Shirley Bennett Queen, of Buckhannon. David is a retiree of Corhart Refractories and an avid member of Light Chapel Church. He was an active member of the Masons, Franklin Lodge No. 7 and High Priest of the Royal Arch Masons #34 of Buckhannon. David was also President of the Upshur County Shriners Club of Buckhannon, as well an instrumental transportation driver for the Shriners. David was an outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting and camping. He was always willing to put others before himself and genuinely cared for all of his friends and family, especially his four grandchildren whom he cherished and spoiled. Family and friends will be received Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Noon at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 1 PM at the funeral home with the Rev Holly Hoover and Rev Brandon Kelley officiating. Burial will follow at Mt Union Cemetery in Buckhannon with Masonic rites held at graveside. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the Shriner's Hospital for Children.
