Shirley Ann Gifford, age 78, of Buckhannon, WV, died Sunday, December 22, 2019, at Holbrook’s Nursing Home in Buckhannon. She was born November 11, 1941 in Mount Clair, WV, a daughter of the late Charles and Loma Long Starr. She is survived by her husband, Ernest Gifford of Buckhannon; two sons, James "Jimmy" Gifford of Buckhannon and Steven Gifford and wife Sherri of Salem, OH; two grandsons, Zachary Gifford of Morgantown, WV and Nicholas Gifford of Buckhannon and one granddaughter, Rachel Sheets of Tallahassee, FL. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Starr, Jr., and Gene Starr and one sister, Joy Davis. Mrs. Gifford was a graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur High School and worked at G.C. Murphy’s until her sons were born. She attended the Buckhannon Union Mission Church. Friends will be received Saturday, December 28, 2019, from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 PM Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dennis Estes and Pastor James L. Gifford, II officiating.Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
