Leona Mae “Wind Dancer” Zirkle

Leona Mae “Wind Dancer” Zirkle, age 78, of Mabie, WV, died Tuesday, December 10, 2019, at Davis Medical Center in Elkins, WV. She was born April 17, 1941, in Norton, WV, a daughter of the late Nimrod Cross and Freda Smith Gorder. On August 5, 1978, she married Larry Zirkle who survives. Also surviving are, two sons, Samuel Zirkle and wife Faye of Buckhannon, WV and Jimmie Lee Davis of Warren, PA; four daughters, Ruth Vanard of Warren, Amy Flanagan of French Creek, WV, Kathy Reed and husband Ron “Dark Horse” of Buckhannon and Robin Schadt and husband Jerry of Bartonville, IL; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters, Janet Reemsnyder of Warren, OH, Jill Cross of Las Vegas, NV and Paulette Smith; one brother, Nim Cross and wife Patsy of York, PA and her mother-in-law, Margarite Zirkle of Belington, WV. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Gorder; one grandson, Franklin Flanagan; one granddaughter, Christina Gill and her best friend, LouAnn Loudin. Mrs. Zirkle was a member of the Elkins Church of God, a secretary for the USDA and was a truck driver. Friends will be received Monday, December 16, 2019, from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Cochran officiating. Burial will follow in the Indian Camp Cemetery in French Creek, WV.
