Obituary of Mary Margaret Smith Godfrey

Mary Margaret Smith Godfrey, age 87, of Jane Lew, WV, died Monday, September 16, 2019, at Crestview Manor in Jane Lew. She was born April 1, 1932, in Montrose, WV, a daughter of the late Minter J. and Viola Allender Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Dale Smith; two granddaughters, Natasha Godfrey and Samantha Crawford; two sisters, Virginia Smith and Olete Winnings and one brother, Scott Smith. She is survived by one son, Hayward Godfrey of Buckhannon; three daughters, Carolyn Fletcher of Bridgeport, WV, Joyce Choban of KY and Elizabeth Crawford of SC.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Ethel Simons of Buckhannon and one brother, Maynard Smith of Buckhannon. Mrs. Godfrey was a homemaker. She was a member of the Faith Tabernacle and the Ladies Aide of the church. Friends will be received Thursday, September 19, 2019 from 10 AM to 12 Noon at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 12 Noon Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev.
