Moe was born in Follansbee, WV on October 7, 1924 the son of the late Elsie M. Goodall and Elmo O. Adkins, Sr. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Pearl M. and Robert Shingleton of Buckhannon; four nieces, Megan E. Shingleton, of Buckhannon, Elaine Mravetz of Sharon Center, OH, Marlene Jackson of Bridgeport, WV and Denise Deegan of Charleston, WV; one nephew, Bruce Shingleton of York PA and several great nieces and nephews. Moe was a graduate of Victory High School in 1942. He was a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving 30 years during WWII and Korean Wars. His tour of duty during WWII included Hawaii, the Philippine Islands, and Japan and Korea during the Korean War. Moe was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #3663. After retiring from the military, he taught advanced electronics at Woodson High School in Fairfax, VA for 17 years. Upon retirement from the Virginia Education System, he resided with his mother in Buckhannon. Friends will be received from 1 to 2 PM Sunday, September 7, 2008 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 2 PM Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. J. Edward McDaniels officiating. Pallbearers will be James Carrico, Joseph Carrico, Randall Carrico, Captain Brian Zickefoose, Jared Jackson and Colonel Sid Jackson. Entombment will follow at the Floral Hill Memorial Gardens in Quiet Dell, WV. Military honors will be provided by members of VFW Post #3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post #7 American Legion and DAV Chapters #5 and #36. Online condolences ay be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
