John C. Roby John C. Roby John C. Roby, age 65, of French Creek, WV died Monday, March 24, 2014 at his home. He was born March 22, 1949 in Upshur County, WV, a son of the late Frank O. and Freda Morrison Roby. On August 2, 1969 he married Wanda Olene Smith who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Jonathan Roby of Rock Cave, WV and Donivan Roby of Buckhannon; one daughter, Angela Riley and husband Larry of French Creek; two grandsons, Jonathan T. Roby of Rock Cave and Joshua Riley of French Creek; four brothers, Steve Roby of Steubenville, OH, James Roby and wife Kathy of Lost Creek, WV, Dave Roby and wife Sue of Adrian, WV and Mike Roby and wife Lynette of French Creek; one sister, Barbara Phillips and husband Dave of Rock Cave and mother in law, Wanda Smith of Buckhannon. Mr. Roby was a Well Tender for Alliance. He was a member of the Sago Baptist Church, a lifetime member of the Adrian VFD where he served as Chaplain. He was also a member of the NRA and served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War. Friends will be received Friday, March 28, 2014 from 12 – 2 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 2 PM Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Wease L. Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Rock Cave Cemetery in Rock Cave. The Upshur County Honor Guard will conduct full military honors at the gravesite. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
