William (Bill) E. Wagner, age 96, of 9 Myrna Street, passed away in his home peacefully, surrounded by loving family on June 4, 2019. He was born on April 15, 1923, in Niagra Falls, New York, the son of the late William and Mabel Wagner. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife of forty- five years, Barbara J. (Garrow) Wagner. He served in the United States Navy and was aboard the U.S.S. Dewey from 1942-1945. He worked in management for Moore Business Forms, Inc. for 40 years. His passion for the game of golf will forever be imprinted on the greens of the Buckhannon Country Club located in Buckhannon, West Virginia. Bill is survived by a son, Richard D. Wagner and his wife, Kathy, of Winter Haven, Florida; a daughter, Cheryl D. (Wagner) Anderegg and husband, Jake, of Buckhannon, West Virginia; and a daughter, Mary P. (Wagner) Lewis and husband, Steve of Buckhannon, West Virginia. Bill is also survived by seven grandchildren, Rick, Lisa, Jennifer, Cameron, Erin, Kelly, and Ashley; 17 great-grandchildren, Billy, Brandon, Emma, Jake, Sarah, Caroline, Madelyn, Allie, Aden, Jacob, Kristine, Will, Andrew, Aleah, Kaleb, Oonagh, and Odelle; and 1 great-great-granddaughter, Stella.  The family of William E. Wagner, would like to express our most heartfelt thanks to Mabel Casto, for allowing our father the opportunity to find two someone’s to love, Nancy Humphrey, Debbie Bills, Ellen Smith, West Virginia Hospice, and the Senior Center for being such competent and compassionate caregivers in our family’s time of need. Friends and family will be received on Saturday, June 8th, 2019, from 10 a.m. until 12 noon, followed by a celebration of life service at noon at the Poling-St.Cliar Funeral Home. Pastor Justin Bowers will be officiating the service and burial will follow in the Heavener Cemetery. The Upshur County Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the graveside.
