untitled3 David R. Rowan, Sr. David R. Rowan, Sr., age 77, of Buckhannon, WV, died Sunday, November 17, 2013 at his home. He was born July 17, 1936 in Adrian, WV, a son of the late Frank and Flora Mae Smith Rowan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one half-brother, Rev. Paul Smith and one half-sister, Mabel Smith. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn West; three sons, Dewayne Rowan and wife Pauline and David Rowan, Jr. both of Buckhannon and Paul Rowan and wife Brenda Jean of Tallmansville, WV; sister in law, Carolyn Smith Brown of Buckhannon; niece, Patty Smith of Crystal Springs, WV and ex-wife, Betty Rowan of Buckhannon. Mr. Rowan was a custodian for the Upshur County Board of Education. He was a member of the Independent United Brethren Church and he served in the US Army. Friends will be received Wednesday, November 20, 2013 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 2 PM Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Junior Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park in Buckhannon. The Upshur County Honor Guard will provide military honors at the graveside.
