Merritt Dorsey “Bud” Snyder

Merritt Dorsey “Bud” Snyder, age 82, of Buckhannon, WV, left his Earthly life on October 10, 2018, at his home and is Heaven bound, where he’ll have new ears that can hear and a voice to sing. Bud was born June 16, 1936, in Buckhannon, a son of the late Rev. Dorsey R. “Jack” and Vecie M. Lower Snyder. On April 21, 1962, he married the love of his life, Cecelia Trahern who survives. He is also survived by one daughter, Lois S. White and husband Greg of Buckhannon; one son, Johnny Snyder and wife Sonja of Buckhannon; five grandsons, Bryan Cox and wife Seleena and Johnny “Jay” Snyder II all of Fairmont, WV, Trahern and Zachary White both of Buckhannon and Robert “Robby” Snyder of Shepherdstown, WV; two great grandchildren of Fairmont; two brothers, Rev. Junior B. Harris and wife Grace and Don Snyder and wife Jean all of Buckhannon; one sister, Mary Ruth Campbell of Buckhannon and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Danny Snyder and one sister, Arlene Lantz. Mr. Snyder graduated from the Romney School of the Deaf and Blind in 1955. In addition to learning Sign Language, he was active in sports, playing football and wrestling. Mr. Snyder was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. He Christian by Faith and he retired from the Ward’s Laundry Dry Cleaners in Buckhannon after 39 years. Friends will be received Sunday, October 14, 2018, from 1 P.M. to 2 P.M. The funeral will follow at 2 P.M. with the Rev. Junior Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Kesling Mill Cemetery in Kesling Mill, WV.
