Obituary of Priscilla Iris Hechler

Priscilla Iris Smith Hechler, age 61, of Seminole, FL., passed away on Friday, September 14, 2018 at home under the care of her sister Phyllis Owen and hospice. She was born on February 8, 1957 in Buckhannon, WV. She was preceded in death by her biological parents, Hoy H. and Madalene Shreve Smith and later her adopted parents, Monzel Smith and Pauline “Polly” Smith who survives of Silver Springs, MD. In addition to her biological parents and adopted father, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Allen “Tom”, Ernest H. and Gilbert “Gib” Smith; one sister, Francis “Sis” Harris; her beloved dog, Cocoa and her very dear friend, Mike Kennedy. In addition to her adopted mother, she is also survived by three brothers, Frank Smith and wife Donna, Melvin Smith and wife Jean all of Buckhannon, Roger Smith of Roanoke, WV; five sisters, Sheila Rakes and husband Carl of Blacksburg, VA, Phyllis Owen of WI, Alice Simpson and husband Rusty of Weston, WV, Judy Smith and Christene Lipps both of Buckhannon and several nieces and nephews. Priscilla retired from Chief Compliance Officer at Trans America in Tampa, FL. She was involved with Habitat for Humanity, worked on the Vietnam Memorial in D.C., Relay for Life, Make A Wish Foundation and her Church where she loved working with the children in the nursery and was in the choir. Priscilla loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest, traveling all over the world, spending time with her dear friends and family which was a big part in her life. She was loved by all and will be missed deeply by those who knew and loved her. In honoring Priscilla’s wishes she will be cremated and put to rest at the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery in Buckhannon, WV. A memorial service will be held 2 PM on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at The Way of Holiness Church with Pastor Jerry Murrell officiating.
