Obituary of Patricia Ruth Carder

Patricia Ruth Carder, age 71, of Buckhannon, WV, died Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV. She was born August 20, 1947 in Clarksburg, WV, a daughter of the late Ernest and Katherine Isner Utter. On May 31, 1965 she married Roy Carder who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Michael Carder and wife Emily of Greenville, KY and Shane Carder and wife Kelly of Java, NY; two daughters, Beth Anne Ptak and husband Eric of Tonawanda, NY and Anissa S. Frerichs and husband Charles of Chandler, AZ; seven grandsons, Alexander Frerichs of Chandler, Michael Carder of Bowling Green, KY, Isaac Carder of Greenville, KY, Matthew Brummer of New York City, NY, Travis Brummer of Williamsville, NY and Zachary and Samuel Carder both of Java; four granddaughters, Lindsey Frerichs of Chandler, Hilary Carder of Bowling Green, KY, EmiKaye Carder of Greenville and Dallas Brummer of Tonawanda; one brother, James Utter and wife Barbara of Morgantown, WV and one sister, Margaret McCartney and husband William of Bridgeport.  Mrs. Carder was a member of the Full Gospel Independent Church of Buckhannon. In 1992, at the age of 43, she graduated from Alfred State College in New York with a degree in nursing. Prior to becoming a registered nurse she spent 15 years working for Fisher-Price. During her nursing career she was a nurse manager at Stonewall Jackson Hospital, an ER nurse at United Hospital Center and also served as a SANE nurse. Mrs. Carder liked to crochet and enjoyed traveling. She was a fan of all sports, but loved the New York Yankees. Additionally she enjoyed the outdoors, helped raised beagles and would go hunting with her husband. Above all she loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Friends will be received Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 4-8:30 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 2 PM Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Chad Lewis officiating. In honoring her wishes, Mrs. Carder will be cremated. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s or The Christian Academy of ACT Schools, Inc. 600 Greene Drive, Greenville, KY 42345.
