Obituary of Dortha Hanifan

Dortha “Dottie” Hanifan, age 75, of Buckhannon, WV, died Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at her home. She was born December 20, 1942 in Queens, WV, a daughter of the late Doyle and Nellie Hinkle Zickefoose. On October 7, 1961 she married Marvin McCue Hanifan who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Donna Woody and husband Delmas and Denise Matthey and husband Bruce all of Buckhannon; one grandson, Joshua Matthey and wife Jenny of Buckhannon; two granddaughters, Kayla Matthey of Buckhannon and Jessica Posey and husband Jamie of Morgantown, WV; one great grandson, Michael Matthey of Buckhannon and caregiver, Pam Green of Rock Cave, WV. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Glenna Warner. Mrs. Hanifan was a Teachers Aide for the Upshur County Board of Education. She was a member of the Harmony United Methodist Church in Queens, WV. Mrs. Hanifan loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed quilting and cross-stitching. Friends will be received Friday, September 21, 2018 from 4-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Wease L. Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Lanham Cemetery in Queens, WV. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to WV Hospice, 6 Hartman Plaza, Buckhannon, WV 26201.
