Obituary of William Edward Bennett

William Bennett, age 63, of French Creek, WV, died Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at his home in French Creek. He was born November 11, 1954, in Preston County, WV, a son of the late James Atwell and Dorothy May Anderson Bennett, who survives. In addition to his mother he is survived by his ex-wife, Jeanne Peterson Bennett of Buckhannon, WV; two sons, Christopher Bennett and wife Karyn of Point Pleasant, WV and Matt Bennett and wife Brittany of Buckhannon, WV; one daughter, Laura Meadows and husband John of Buckhannon; three grandsons, Ira Bennett of Point Pleasant and Harlen and Harrison Bennett both of Buckhannon; four granddaughters, Gabriella and Evelyn Bennett both of Point Pleasant and Emberlee and Abilene Bennett both of Buckhannon;  companion, Amanda Swift and her children, Timothy, Thomas, Elizabeth and Rebecca Swift all of French Creek; four sisters, Imogene Watkins and husband Jerry of Statesville, NC, Doris Williams and husband Larry of Tunnelton, WV, Betty Bolyard and husband Richard of Newburg, WV and Patricia Bennett and friend Danny Perry of Hodgesville, WV; one sister-in-law, Helen Bennett of Statesville; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Eddy Farnsworth, Lenny Evans and Bobby Furr. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Eugene Bennett; maternal grandparents, James and Myrtle Anderson and paternal grandparents, Ira and Esta Bennett. Mr. Bennett was a Christian by faith. He was a coal miner, bus driver for the Upshur County School District and a true jack of all trades. Mr. Bennett was dependable and always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He liked to spend his free time riding his motorcycle and he loved his grandchildren. In honoring his wishes, Mr. Bennett will be cremated. Friends will be received at a memorial gathering Saturday, September 8, 2018 from noon – 2 pm at the Calvary Baptist Church in Buckhannon. A memorial service will follow at 2pm with Pastor Chip Bennett and Pastor Ed Lowther officiating. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
