Obituary of William Joe Slaughter

Mr. William Joe “Bill” Slaughter, 71, of Graham, passed away at the Hospice Home on Monday, August 20, 2018 at 3:45 P.M. A native of Buckhannon, WV, he was the husband of Roxanna C. Slaughter, who survives and the son of the late Joey Dale Slaughter and Pauline Haymond Slaughter. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1967-1971 in Vietnam. He served in the Army-National Guard of West Virginia from 1971-1977. He was a retired salesman and a charter member of New Covenant Fellowship. In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Slaughter of Buckhannon; three sons, William Joe Slaughter, II (Nancy), Jason Mark Henry Slaughter (Dodie) and Joey Lee Slaughter (Jessica), all of Buckhannon; one step-daughter, Monica Davis (Boyce) of Graham; nine grandchildren, Andrew Slaughter, Kaleb Slaughter, Kaitlyn Slaughter, Shelby Slaughter, Sidney Slaughter, Kyra Cook, Will Davis, Olivia Davis and Gabriel Shipman; a sister, Vickie Johnson (Tom) of Burlington; nephew, Greg Johnson (Cathy) of Graham; niece, Yvonne Underwood (Jamey) of Graham; and great-nieces, Caylee, Alyssa, and Rachel Johnson and Kylie Underwood; and great-nephews, Trea Turney, Trey and Devin Underwood. A memorial service will be conducted at New Covenant Fellowship on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. by Rev. David Neff. Interment will be in Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon, WV at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC  27215.
