Obituary of Deloris Irene Smith

Deloris Irene Smith, age 88, of Volga, WV, died Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Greenbrier Valley Hospital in Lewisburg, WV. She was born February 23, 1930 in Upshur County, WV, a daughter of the late Warrick and Maggie Lance Karickhoff. She married Herbert Smith who preceded her in death on January 3, 1985. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Rodney Smith; one brother, Earl Karickhoff and five sisters, Audrey Kincaid, Roxie Simons, Elsie Crider, Snow Deer Ward and Virginia Keller. She is survived by one daughter, Katrina Harris and husband Tim of Volga; daughter-in-law, Karen Smith of New Martinsville; three grandsons, Shane Smith and wife Michele of Morgantown, WV, Aaron Harris and wife Natasha of Buckhannon and Cody Rice of New Martinsville, WV; two granddaughters, Carisa Smith and husband Adam of Parkersburg, WV and Amanda Rice of New Martinsville; six great grandsons, Riley and Reece Smith both of Parkersburg, Brandon and Dominick Smith both of Morgantown and Dakota and Tristin Rice both of New Martinsville; three great granddaughters, Cameron Smith of Morgantown, Raelee Harris of Buckhannon and Shayanna Rice of New Martinsville; two sisters, Tula Curkendall and Oneita Powers both of Volga; special nephew, Donnie Kincaid and wife Susie of Buckhannon and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Smith was a Clerk for the Assessor’s Office. She was a member of the Heaston United Methodist Church and the Pringle Tree CEOS.  Mrs. Smith loved spending time with her family. Friends will be received Monday, August 13, 2018 from 4-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Bonnie Starkey officiating. Burial will follow in the Floral Hill Memorial Gardens in Quiet Dell, WV. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
