Tracey L. Segur, a resident of Buckhannon, WV and The Villages, FL died Friday, August 3, 2018 at Kindred Long Term Acute Care in Ocala, FL. He was the last surviving child of Albert Tracey Segur and Laurissa Woodard Segur and was born on March 16, 1927 in Canton, PA. He was brother to the late Phyllis Johnston, Harriett Maslinski, Marlene Gee Jones, Beverly Aston, and Elwin Segur.  He married the late Lois Elaine Drysdale Segur in 1946 and the late Leahbell “Boots” Lane Friend in 1982.

 

He is survived by son Dennis (Rise) Segur and daughter Barbara Raflo, both of The Villages, FL and daughter Joan (William) Moomau of Annapolis, MD.  He is also survived by stepsons, Mark (Katherine) Friend of Buckhannon, WV, David (Jennifer) Friend of Kiel, WI and stepdaughter, Beckie Isenhart of Gettysburg, PA.

 

Also surviving are three grandsons, Brian (Erin) Hornbeck of Ashburn, VA, Bert Leatherman, San Paulo, Brazil and Blake Moomau of Annapolis, MD, and one granddaughter, Stephanie (Greg) Chadwick of Matthews, NC. He is also survived by three great grandsons, two great granddaughters, five step grandsons, two step granddaughters, six step great grandsons, and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

He graduated from Canton High School in 1945 and was a member of his school’s state championship basketball team.  He enlisted in the United States Navy on March 8, 1945.  He served his country by assisting in the discharge of returning servicemen at the end of WWII. He was honorably discharged on August 30, 1946.  

 

He worked in various jobs prior to joining Moore Business Forms in Elmira, NY. He was promoted to a plant supervisory position and transferred to Buckhannon, WV to help startup a new Moore plant in 1964.  He retired from Moore’s in 1987.  He then worked with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for several years.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman and traveled over several states including Alaska pursuing his hobby. He was a member of the Canton Masonic Lodge No 415 in Canton, PA. and the R.W. Grand Lodge of Free & Accepted Masons in PA.  He was also a member of Loyal Order of Moose in Canton, PA.

 

 In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church c/o Mark Friend, PO Box 2113, Buckhannon, WV 26201

 

Memorial Service will be held 11 AM  Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church.
