Reta Long

Reta Long, age 93, of Downingtown, PA died Thursday, July 12, 2018, at Neighborhood Hospice in West Chester, PA. She was born March 13, 1925, in Clarksburg, WV and raised in Holly Grove, WV. Mrs. Long was a daughter of the late Ira and Orla DeBarr. On December 6, 1952, she married James Long who preceded her in death on July 24, 2005. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Blaire and Blaine DeBarr. Surviving are two sons, James Long and wife Sharon of Coatesville, PA and Rolland Long and wife Lisa of Currituck, NC; Seven grandchildren, Heather Lawrence and husband John, Alyson Anderson and husband Shawn, Allan Smith and wife Shey, Carey Smith,  Dustin Smith and Xumei Han, Michelle Hudgins and husband Noel and Melissa Sautter and husband Justin; thirteen great grandchildren, Lauryn Long, Kirstyn, Courtney, Amy, Shelby and Ashlynn Smith, James Alkire, Jaime Johnson, Charlie Han-Smith, Alexis Spaulding, Nathan Hudgins and Lillian Anderson and six great-great grandchildren, Michael Gibson, Cameron Fealy, Johanna and Elijah Jenks, Julien Johnson and Cayden Sautter. Mrs. Long and her husband, James were long time members of the Sand Run Baptist Church in Excelsior, WV. She was the Upshur County Republican Woman of the year in 2004. Friends will be received Friday, July 20, 2018, from 5 to 8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Mrs. Long will lie in state at the Sand Run Baptist Church in Excelsior from 12 Noon until 1 PM on Saturday. The funeral services will follow at 1 PM at the church with the Rev. Donald Butcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Upshur Co. Memorial Park in Tennerton, WV. Online condolence may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
