Obituary of Barbara Ann Harvey

Barbara Wolfe Lilly Harvey, age 78 of Tornado, WV, died on Saturday, May 12, 2018, after a short time at the Hubbard Hospice House West in South Charleston, WV. She was born February 17, 1940, in South Charleston, a daughter of the late Charles G. and Margaret “Peggy” Arnold Wolfe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dorsey Lee Harvey and her daughter Belinda Carol Lilly. She is survived by two sisters, Nancy Miller (Tom) and Mary Baer (Stephen); her daughters Suzanne Simmons (Mark) and Catherine Bostic (Ken) and her son John Richard “Rick” Lilly (Debbie); four grandsons, Justin Simmons, Joseph Simmons, John Lilly and Josh Simmons; two granddaughters, Rebekah Kendyl Bostic and Rachel Kayley Bostic; two great-granddaughters Riley Simmons and Avery Simmons, and one new great-grandson, Oliver Kyle Simmons. Barbara retired from Pratt & Whitney in Clarksburg, WV, where by training and profession, she was an accountant and technologist. Additionally, she was a genealogist, passionate about tracing family roots and preserving the story of generations. She loved to travel, especially to Ireland where she could explore her family ancestry. The treasure of her extended family is a gift that she cherished greatly. Friends will be received for a memorial gathering on Saturday, May 26, 2018 from 2 to 3 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home in Buckhannon, WV. A memorial service will follow at 3 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the West Virginia Archives Library at the Culture Center in Charleston, 1900 Kanawha Blvd., East, Bldg. 9, Charleston, WV 25305.
